Band Members

Elijah Kraatz (vocals, guitar) - A singer, guitarist, and songwriter for sixteen years, he has performed both solo, in the folk arena, and as the front man in several bands. Elijah honed his skills on the streets of San Francisco and Berkley , CA , before returning to VT, his home state. In the fall of 2004 having gained a reputation for his lyrics Elijah was fortunate enough to have his pick of some of the finest musicians in VT. Out of his love for Reggae, Soul and World music the Pulse Prophets were born.

Rudy (guitar, harmony vocals) - Rudy has been a veteran of the Vermont music scene for almost 20 years and played, toured and recorded with too many bands to mention here. Favorite players include Adrian Belew, David Gilmour, Chris Whitley and all members of "The Band". Thriving on being versatile he currently plays string bass with the old-timey Snake Mountain Moonshiners and considers himself blessed to be a part of the diverse stylings of world beat rockers The Pulse Prophets, "the best band with the most potential I've ever played in!"

Andric Severance (keys) - Andric started banging on the piano when he was a little kid. He played in various Vermont bands before leaving for Brazil in search of rhythms. Later, in New York City, he worked with some of the city's finest young musicians. As a composer, bandleader, and sideman he made a living playing Salsa, Afrobeat, and Latin Jazz. Back in Vermont now, he heads up the Andric Severance Latin Jazz Quartet.

Rory Loughran (drums, harmony vocals) - Rory has been playing drums since age ten. He has performed with various Burlington and Boston area groups including Up, Down and Strange, Little Man Big Man, The Network, Dwight Ritcher Band, The Bell Tower Trio, Sheffer Stephens, Incremental Balance, and more.

His style stems from a wide range of influences from jazz greats like Jack Dejohnette and Elvin Jones, to Led Zeppelin's Jon Bonham, MMW's Billy Martin, Ringo of the Beatles, and many more. Rory's playing philosophy is that &groove& comes before all else.

Rory currently plays in the following bands: Up, Down and Strange, Pulse Prophets, The Skinx, The Andric Severance Group, and Ringbone. Rory teaches drums and percussion at the Vermont Independent School of the Arts in Sharon, VT. When not working, Rory enjoys off-grid living in his cabin in Brookfield, VT.

JP Candelier - In need of a guitarist for his junior high school band, Rory insisted that his friend J.P. should play guitar instead of drums. J.P. began his music studies thanks to Rory's suggestion and his gift of a Sears guitar. In high school, J.P. was moved to switch to bass after discovering Jaco Pastorius.

After studying jazz, funk and hip hop, J.P was increasingly drawn to world music.

He has since garnered attention for his agile bass work with Malian Kora player Balla Tounkara, whose band mingles traditional African songs with Cuban themes and funk rhythms. He has also performed with the Bell Tower Trio, One Flight Up, and Senegalese master drummer Ibrahima Camara's Safal.
